About Us
Established in August 1974, Metro Maryland Ostomy Association (MMOA) is dedicated to the rehabilitation, emotionally and physically, of all persons living with an ostomy.
MMOA Provides its Members:
- Trained Visitors who visit patients with, or preparing for, ostomy surgery. Patients and visitors are matched by type of surgery, sex and age.
- A Bi-Monthly Newsletter that shares articles from local and national members, physicians, surgeons, and WOC Nurses.
- Monthly Meetings that provide guest speakers with beneficial information and the latest in stoma care equipment; and group discussions with WOC Nurses.
Our Medical Advisory Board is comprised of leading surgeons, medical doctors and WOCNs (Wound and Ostomy Continent Nurses) who advise and support the members.

When I first had my ostomy, I felt like I was one of a few. At MMOA I am one of many. The support and friendship of the group is a blessing.
