MMOA meets every 2nd Sunday of each month (except May & August)
Meetings consist of:
- group discussions in breakout sessions with WOC Nurses
- suppliers’ representatives with the latest in stoma care equipment
- guest speakers: physicians, surgeons, gastroenterologists, WOC Nurses, psychologists, nurse practitioners, and nutritionists
- a December Holiday party with representatives from ostomy supply companies
- an annual raffle fund-raiser
Meetings are open to:
- all who have or will have ostomy or diversionary surgery
- relatives, friends, and care givers
- medical/healthcare professionals
We meet to:
- give support and encouragement to each other
- be role models for new ostomates, showing them an active life can continue
- learn what is new in management equipment
- share accomplishments and renew a positive attitude for life
The Bottom Line:
- Your presence encourages others
- No matter how long ago your surgery or how many meetings you attend there is always something new to learn

From West/VA - Take Beltway I-495 going east to Exit 31A. Merge onto MD-97 N/Georgia Ave toward Wheaton. Turn right onto Forest Glen Rd (0.3 mile). Hospital will be on right (0.4 mile) at 1500 Forest Glen Road.
From East/PG County - Take Beltway I-495 going West to Exit 31 for MD-97/Georgia Ave toward Silver Spring/Wheaton. Keep right at fork, and merge onto MD-97 N/Georgia Ave (0.1 mile). Turn right onto Forest Glen Rd (0.3 mile). Hospital will be on right (0.4 mile) at 1500 Forest Glen Road.
From points North (Germantown/Gaithersburg) - Take Interstate 270 S and merge onto Beltway I-495. Take Exit 31A and merge onto MD-97 N/Georgia Ave toward Wheaton (0.3 mile). Turn right onto Forest Glen Road (0.4 mile). Hospital will be on right (0.4 mile) at 1500 Forest Glen Road.
For those traveling on Georgia Ave - From the South, take Georgia Ave North, cross over the Beltway, and turn right onto Forest Glen Road. From the North, take Georgia Ave South to just before the Beltway. Turn left onto Forest Glen Road. Hospital will be on right (0.4 mile) at 1500 Forest Glen Rd.
Park in lot (or underground lot & use elevator to hospital entrance) or in the many handicap spaces in front of the hospital. Parking is free but there is no valet parking on Sunday. Enter through the front entrance. Just past the large Information Desk, turn right into the Community Education Center wing. MMOA meets in one of the rooms on the right side of the Hall.
